Sadness

Tonight we had some sad news that one of our dogs Pippa, has secondary tumours growing in her lungs. Tonight we were advised by our vet that if the steroid tablets didn't improve her breathing by Saturday, then the best thing would be to have her put to sleep.
E is devastated and feels completely lost, it doesn't matter how prepared you think you are, you never really are when you are faced with the loss of a pet. We told the kids when we got in, but how can you be sure that a seven year old has really grasped whats going to happen. I just hope we're ready for it.
I know we're doing the best thing for our dog but it doesn't make things any easier.
